Early detection saves lives
Early detection of cancer can significantly improve your chances of successful treatment. Some screening tests can even help prevent certain cancers from developing altogether. NHS offer three national cancer screening programmes in England.
- Cervical screening: Recommended for women between the ages of 25 and 64. For more information on the cervical screening programme, please visit the NHS cervical screening pages. Alternatively, visit the gov.uk website or Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust’s website.
- Breast screening: Recommended for women aged 50 to 70 (sometimes earlier for those with a family history of breast cancer). If you’re worried about breast cancer symptoms, such as a lump or an area of thickened tissue in a breast, or you notice that your breasts look or feel different from what’s normal for you, do not wait to be offered screening. Contact us today, and we will help you.
- Bowel screening. Offered to men and women between 60 and 74. For more information on the bowel cancer screening test, please visit the nhs.uk bowel cancer screening pages. You can also find information on the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer on the nhs.uk website.
We understand that you may have questions about cancer screening.
Please don’t hesitate to discuss any concerns you have with your GP/Doctor during your next appointment. They can help you decide which screenings are right for you and answer any questions you may have about the tests themselves.
