Between September 2023 and August 2024, 58.7% of cancer cases were diagnosed at stage one or two, giving patients the best chance of successful treatment. This is the highest rate since records began over 10 years ago. Early cancer detection is vital because it helps doctors start treatment sooner, which improves the chances of recovery. What Is Happening with Cancer Care in England? While more cancers are being found early, there is still work to be done. The NHS aims to diagnose 75% of cancers at stages one or two by 2028, but there are challenges. Many patients still face delays, with nearly one in three people waiting more than 62 days to start treatment after being referred by their GP.
