Proposed Change to Practice Boundary

The Grange Group Practice would like to apply to change the local boundary our practice covers. We want to reduce the size of the boundary which will mean that we will no longer cover some of the local areas we cover now. The areas that would be affected by any change would be:

What is a practice boundary?

All GP practices are given an area to cover. This means that the service covers patients who live within a certain boundary. If you live outside the boundary the practice covers you will not be able to register with the practice.

How can the practice change the boundary?

The practice will apply to NHS Greater Huddersfield Clinical Commissioning Group (GHCCG) who buy (commission) health care for local people to change the current boundary of the practice. The CCG will consider the application based on:

  • Other GP services available
  • The patient list size, staff and building
  • The views of patients and stakeholders
  • An equality impact assessment
  •

What will happen if a boundary change is approved?

If a boundary change is approved it will mean that any new patients who live outside the boundary will not be able to register with the practice. Patients who are registered with the practice now, but who live outside the boundary, will be able to stay at the practice unless they move house or de-register from the practice. If they de-register they will be unable to register again.
